Cate Huguelet’s work has appeared in publications like The New York Times, Saveur, Plate, Fodor’s Chicago, the Guardian, and the Chicago Sun-Times. She’s a regular contributor to Chicago magazine, where she writes the monthly In the Kitchen column.
Cate’s career as a travel and food writer began in 2004, when she left her home on Chicago’s south side for an internship at The Dubliner magazine. What began as a three-month stint in Ireland stretched into five years abroad, during which she lived in Dublin, Galway, and Cork, and sampled the sights and tastes of Europe at every opportunity. A move to Knoxville, Tennessee initiated a new adventure: getting to know the American South (and uncovering a latent love for burnt ends and pimento cheese).
In 2013, she returned to Chicago, where she currently lives with her husband and daughters. In addition to being a writer, she’s also a trained baker with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts from Washburne Culinary Institute.
